UPDATE WIZARD

The Update Wizard is a new feature which has been added to Canal Planner version 7. It enables you to connect to the Canal Planner update server using the Internet, to download the latest updates of data, application files and pictures.

The first time you run Update Wizard, if you are running any personal firewall software, such as Norton, you may be prompted that Update Wizard is trying to communicate over the Internet. You should Always Allow Update Wizard to be able to communicate over the Internet else Update Wizard will be unable to check for and download updates. An example of such a warning is shown below.

Update Wizard enables us to easily distribute to you essential changes and also non-essential but desirable updates to the application such as photos.

To take advantage of the benefits of Update Wizard, an Internet connection and a valid subscription is required. All purchases of Canal Planner come with a 3 month FREE subscription for updates.

Update Wizard cannot be used whilst Canal Planner is open. If Canal Planner is open when you run Update Wizard, you will be asked to close Canal Planner before continuing.

Update Wizard is run from your main Start | All Programs | Canal Planner 7 menu

Check for Updates

To check for updates, you need to click the 'Check for updates' button at the top right had side of the screen.

If there are any updates available, they will be displayed in the top section of the screen. Clicking on an update will display more information about the update in the lower half of the screen.

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DOWNLOAD ALL UPDATES AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE

Click 'Install x items' to begin the download and installation of the updates.

SUBSCRIPTION

A valid subscription is required to use Update Wizard. Canal Planner comes with a complimentary 3 month update subscription. You will be contacted near the time of expiry and asked if you wish to extend this. A fee will be payable for the ongoing use of Update Wizard.

DOWNLOADED UPDATES

A list of previously downloaded updates can be found by clicking 'Help' on the main menu bar, then selecting 'Installed Updates'
