ROUTE
SUMMARY
The route summary screen is the
main screen in Canal Planner for seeing the output from the route
calculations.
The main summary table contains the
following information:
- Waterway
- Location
- Miles represents the
number of miles between the current location and the previous
location
- Locks represents the
number of locks between the current location and the previous
location
- Time represents the
time to get from the previous location and the current
location
- Total Miles
represents an ongoing accumulative total of miles
- Total Locks
represents an ongoing accumulative total of locks
- Total Time
represents an ongoing accumulative total of time
- Gaz if there is a G
in this column, clicking it will display the details of the gazetteer for that
location.
- Pub if there is a P
in this column, clicking it will display the details of the pub at that
location.
- Byard if there is a
B in this column, clicking it will display the details of the boatyard at that
location.
- POI if there is an I
in this column, clicking it will display the details of the place of interest
for that location.
- Chu if there is a C in
this column, clicking it will display the details of the churches for that
location.
- Pic If there is a Y
in this column, there is a photo associated with the location. Clicking the location row will display
the photo in the bottom left hand corner.
Clicking on a location in the list
will display the photo for the location if one exists. If more than one photo exists then you can use
the left and right arrows in the top right hand corner of the photo to look
through all the photos. Clicking on the picture will show a full size
version of the selected picture. Clicking it again will return it to the normal
size.
The features box will display and associated
features with this location. This is where you will find your information
on where services such as waterpoints, refuse disposal, sanitary stations etc
are.
There are a series of display
options available in the bottom right hand side of the
screen.
Include Display
Options
- All locations
displays all locations (default)
- Pubs only displays
all canalside and nearby pubs
- Turning points only
displays all turning points
- Locations with
pictures only displays all locations with an attached
picture
- Locations without
pictures only displays all locations without a picture
- Boatyards only
displays all boatyards
- Locks only display
lock locations only
- Attractions only
displays all attractions / points of interest
Exclude Display
Options
Exclude display options are only
available when Include Display Options is set to All
locations.
- Minor locations
excludes all locations which are classed as minor locations.
- Pubs excludes all
canalside and nearby pubs from the list of locations
- Boatyards excludes
boatyards from the list of locations
- Locks excludes locks
from the list of locations
- Attractions excludes
attractions from the list of locations
Highlight
Clicking one or more of these
options will quickly highlight the matching locations.

Points
Menu
On the menu at the top of the
screen is where you will find a number of important options which enable you to
do a number of useful tasks.
Route
View

Virtual Cruise - This option will load
the Virtual Cruise screen with your route, enabling you to cruise your
route on the screen. See Virtual Cruise

Map - Will open up the mapping screen
with your route highlighted on the illustrative map. See Maps

Route Wizard - Takes you to the
Route Wizard screen which enables you to alter your route options, locations,
etc. See Altering an Existing
Route
Print
-
Settings - This option will
open up to a further 2 menu items

Include Map - If this option is
ticked, when you print a route, on the final page you will have a map of
your route printed as well. As the map is in green, you may wish to
consider altering your printer options to only print in greyscale should you
wish to conserve your colour ink. Alternatively you un-tick this option
and the map will not be printed along with the route
locations.

Double spaced lines - If this
option is ticked an additional blank line will be printed between each row
in the route. This option is to enable you space to jot notes, times
etc which you may wish to record to later enter into a log, or to update
information.

Print Preview - This option
generates the output which will be sent to the printer and shows you this on
screen first. If you click the print option from the preview screen this
will attempt to print the route to your default
printer.

Print - Clicking print will open
another Print box which will enable you to select which printer you would like
to print to.
